Voice Talent Productions Unveils New
Online Casting  Site ... Cool & Simple
Sept. 24, 2009

Simplicity isn't always easy - especially when the project is designing a web site for the complex task of online voice-over casting.

But Erik Sheppard (pictured) and his staff at Voice Talent Productions have nailed it.

Unfortunately for voice actors not already a member of the service that links voice seekers with talent, the site is capped at 99 talents for now. (Keep an eye out for openings.)

Yet voice seekers will find a speedy way to access voice talent and demos.

COOL BLUE

With soothing, cool blue text, the site's home page quickly states its mission and provides links to demos in 10 categories.

On each demo page, voice seekers find a black and white photo of the voice actor and an arrow beneath each picture to click to hear the voice.

They choose a voice and contact Sheppard, who does the deal for a 10% commission.

That's it.

INTENTIONALLY 'SPARSE'

"It may look sparse, but that was intentional," says Sheppard. "We spent a lot of time making sure we had the concept fleshed out properly, so that it would be dead simple for a casting director to visit and audition a talent in just a click or two.

"While we strived for simplicity and ease of use, there is a powerful back end," he notes.

"The guys at Phine Art Designs did an amazing job at working with me, and giving me exactly what I wanted."

TALENTED STAFF & ROSTER

Sheppard's talent roster is "hand-picked professional talent that we think represent the best in the business," he says.

"Some other great talents have contacted us since the launch, and we may bring on more in the future. But for now, we're mostly concerned about getting work for those already with us."

A season voice actor himself, Sheppard adds that everyone on his staff is a working voice professional - including September Day (right photo) and LindZ Reiss (left).

"We know how other talent and how those who hire talent would like to be treated," he says.

"We are small enough to give personal attention, but large enough to provide a variety of talent."

PRODUCING FOR CHARITY

A nice touch is the company's offer to produce free voice-overs for qualifying non-profit organizations.

"We know how expensive production costs can be, and would rather see that funding go towards making a difference in the world," Sheppard explains.

Non-profits are invited to apply to the Voice Talent Cares program with a brief explanation of their cause and nature of project.
