VOICE ARTS® AWARDS SOVAS Voice Arts® Awards Gala Honors Hundreds For Voice Over Excellence January 19, 2026
(VOXtra) – Hundreds of stars shined in the voice over universe Sunday night and were celebrated at the 12th Annual Voice Arts® Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom in Beverly Hills, CA.
Sponsored by the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS™), the awards celebrate creative excellence across more than 150 categories, recognizing achievements in animation, film, TV narration, audiobooks, audio description, video games, political advertising, podcasts and spoken word.
Following the glamorous Red Carpet arrivals and a pre-awards reception and dinner, the Gala presentations were made in all categories along with honors to three individuals for career achievements.
In the award categories, voice actor Danny Fehsenfeld won the award for Outstanding Body of Work – Best Voice Actor, and voice actor Tamara Linke won the Outstanding Body of Work – International – Best Voice Actor award.
The audience also cheered recipients of three special awards:
-- The inaugural James Earl Jones Prize, presented to screen legend Laurence Fishburne by actor Angela Bassett and James’ son Flynn Earl Jones. Formerly, this prize was the Voice Arts Icon Award, whose first recipient was James Earl Jones. SOVAS explains that “This new prize was created in honor of one of the world’s most influential artists, not just in the voice acting community, but in the entertainment industry at large, and will celebrate other performers who embody his artistic excellence, integrity, and cultural impact.” (Leon Bennett photo)
-- The Voice Arts Legacy Award, presented to long-time voice actor Debbe Hirata by voice actor/coach Dave Walsh. The award "honors an individual whose voice has transcended performance to become a lasting cultural force. It recognizes a lifetime of extraordinary contribution to the art, craft, and power of voice across entertainment, media and society. Recipients embody excellence, influence and timeless impact, with a legacy that continues to inspire artists and audiences worldwide." SOVAS Senior Vice President Joan Baker adds: "When Deb’s sizzle reel played and she went onstage to accept her award, she received a standing ovation from the entire audience. Among the most enthusiastic applauders were Laurence Fishburne and James Earl Jones’s son, Flynn Earl Jones. They were clapping the loudest."
-- The Voice Arts APEX Award, presented to Ecuador voice actor Fabián Toro by SOVAS Chairman/CEO Rudy Gaskins. The award recognizes an "individual whose body of work represents the pinnacle of achievement in the voice arts. Often presented to members of a younger generation, it honors voice actors who have reached a remarkable summit early, and whose work continues to shape what the industry can become.”
