Sponsored by the Audio Publishers Association (APA), the 18th Annual Audie Awards on May 30 at the New York-Historical Society was an elegant gathering of audiobook authors, narrators and publishers celebrating the most prestigious awards in the U.S. honoring audiobooks.

The Audies are often referred to as the "Oscars" of spoken word entertainment.

Other major winners (also detailed on the list below):
  • Audiobook of the Year: End of the Affair
  • Distinguished Achievement in Production: Dracula
  • and Special Award Sales Achievement: Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James, read by Becca Battoe, published by Random House Audio.
"Another great night, another great year, another great list of winners," said APA President Michelle Cobb at the event. "As the industry grows and thrives we reach new heights of visibility, quality and enthusiasm for the format - all reflected in every one of tonight's nominees and winners."

Kudos all! I was at my mic and ediiting 7 hours today, psychology. Also three novels this year, one mystery. Full speed ahead on book narrations. That's all I want to do. Love it. And was on this list 2002 and determined to be on it again! Hugs all. Bettye
