Of The 31st Annual Audie Awards®

(VOXtra) – To cheers at Monday night’s 31st Annual Audie Awards® Gala in New York City, audiobook narrators and publishers received the coveted awards in 27 categories, including:

• Kristin Atherton (pictured) Best Fiction Narrator, for Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon,
• Blair Underwood, Best Non-Fiction Narrator Award, for Truly, by Lionel Richie, and  
• Suzanne Collins’ Sunrise on the Reaping, narrated by Jefferson White, Audiobook of the Year.

Presented by the Audio Publishers Association (APA), the Audie Awards® is the premier awards program in the U.S., recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.

This year’s competition drew a record-breaking number of submissions from publishers and rights holders, totaling more than 2,300 entries, the APA reports. That’s a 42 percent increase over the previous five years.

Also at the Gala, the APA introduced five inaugural inductees to the APA’s Hall of Fame: George Guidall, Hillary Huber, January LaVoy and Simon Vance (see earlier article for more about each narrator).
