Holiday Magic 2009 Children's Hospitals CD
Is A Wrap, With 34 Voice Talents & Vocalists
Nov. 28, 2009
The voice-over gift is truly in the giving. Voice actor Jeff Gelder has wrapped up his seventh annual Holiday Magic 2009 - A Gift For Children Of All Ages CD project, in which he and voice-over volunteers recorded a holiday story that will now be distributed in person and shipped to children's hospitals nationwide. (See earlier VoiceOverXtra article.)
Like Santa Claus in the North Pole workshop, Gelder uses his San Diego GelderHead Productions studio to produce the annual CD.
His call for help this year resulted in a CD play list of 34 story-telling and vocalist volunteers (see the list below).
BRIGHTENS THE HOLIDAYS
"It’s a holiday recording to brighten the holidays of the children and their siblings at children's hospitals across the country,” Gelder explains.
"Last year 1,500 copies of the CD were delivered to children's hospitals, and they were thrilled to have them and distribute them to their patients."
This year's goal is to deliver "a minimum of 2,000 copies on Dec. 10," Gelder says. However, financial donations are also needed for the national distribution. "We hope to raise enough funds to send CDs to children's hospitals in San Diego, Milwaukee, Albuquerque, Orange County CA, Miami, New York, Houston, New Orleans, Minneapolis and Philadelphia," Gelder explains. "No donation amount is too big or too small. Every $3 will bring a CD to a child.
Donations may be made online at www.HolidayMagicCD.com, or mailed to GelderHead Productions, PO Box 3386, San Diego, CA 92163.
THE 2009 STORY
This year's tale is told by Jeffrey the reindeer and Santa Claus as they make their way from the North Pole to visit the children. On the journey they're joined by other reindeers and Mrs. Claus.
The story characters include:
"The talent this year is once again remarkable, and the CD has an international flair with stories in Spanish and Italian, and with Russian, Norwegian and New Zealand accents."
Radio spots were also voluntarily produced and donated to spread the word.
